Do We Have a Thankful Heart?

It's easy this time of year to be thankful. It's easy for us to say we are thankful for our family, our homes, our food, and all the things that seem to flow from a grateful heart. It's easy to give praise and remember so well on Thursday all the greatness that has been provided to us.

The excitement of the holiday also easily wears off and the stresses of life quickly become real again. Let the joy of being thankful not leave our lips by the time we rise on Friday morning.

Colossians 3:15 says:
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as member's of one body you are called to live in peace. And ALWAYS be thankful.

Here Paul, the writer of this letter, is calling us to a relationship of thanksgiving with Christ and others in our daily life. The walk with Christ is not just about a one time submission. It is not a one time feeling of awe and amazement. It is a relationship, a journey.

Paul writes about this relationship first by saying let this rule your heart. It's not "I hope you find a time of year to have that fluffy feeling in your heart." Let this lead you.

As a child who has submitted to God you are given His blessings here and now. It is not something you have to wait to attain. Christ says let the peace flow through you.

Sometimes we look at our circumstances and say, "How can a God of love have given me this circumstance? How can a God that has promised me peace for my journey be allowing me such turmoil?"

We begin to question His great power and authority. We are not our circumstance. We are not the turmoil we are living in.

In Him, you are given the promise of help through the circumstance. You are given endurance for the race. You are given the hope of his mercies in the turmoil.

Paul ends this verse by saying always be thankful. Even in your circumstance, even in your turmoil. I know that thought seems incomprehensible sometimes but God is faithful and he we guide you on this journey to walk in Him.

I can promise you in telling you that if you show up to meet Christ, He will be there and you will realize when it felt like you were all alone it was really Him carrying you through.

May God bless your family this thanksgiving. I am thankful for each of you and your support of my journey in this ministry.

Lay Down ALL Your Heavy Burdens

Recently, meaning the past couple of years, I have carried a very heavy heart. I felt like God was with me, yet I had this burden I could not shake. I felt I was trying all I could humanly do to get the situation to turn around. I spent time in prayer and felt God was clearly saying not right now or was He was saying maybe never. Will I ever get out of this season in my life? I can't do this another day.

We often times carry the weight of the world on our shoulders.

You may have jobs that don't seem to give you a break.  Bosses that demand beyond what we can do or want to do.  Deadlines and paperwork that have you buried under. Paychecks that are spent before you get them.

You may have kids that never seem to stop.  I am pretty sure I am not the only one with a bunch of Energizer Bunnies.  They need so much, who would have ever thought. They need this paper done, they need this diaper changed, they need this new thing and they need it all right on time. Since they have no concept of time they only think "now" works.

You're torn in every direction.

You may have illness that you think was just on the upside of the hill only to go to the doctor to find out that you're actually heading back down. You try to keep your head above the blankets only to find yourself crawling deeper down in that bed.

You may have a child or a family member struggling with battles of drugs and alcohol. When you think they are on the road to recovery they call again in an altered state or requesting money for "support", then lose all their marbles because your not "there" for them.

All these things just keep you buried in a pit that seems to have no walls or way out.

You may have a marriage that is always on the rocks and you feel the next wobbling rock will land you right in the water.  You don't know which way to go or look in a house where you a supposed to feel the safest.

You may be thinking how much more of this am I going to have to take.
The world will offer you lots of choices. A little pill to make it all go away or at least seem a little more palatable, inspirational words, and promises that never seem to hold up.

If you want healing for your tired, overwhelmed, and struggling soul, go to the One who created your soul. HE is calling you to him. HE is drawing you in with rest for your heavy burdens.

Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT Tunable LASB) says:
28 Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light."

If you can imagine physically carrying a yoke around your neck or around your shoulders, oh, so heavy it must be to carry.  How would you walk five steps with it let alone carry it for, "how long have you been carrying that burden for?"

Dear friends, isn't it time to let it go. You can give it all to Him. This is what he promises when you seek a relationship with Him. He is drawing you to Him. He says, "Come to me". He will give you rest for that weary soul. He says give up your burdens to Him. He wants you to surrender the grip you have on your burdens. He will trade you for His light load. He doesn't worry. He knows all that he has for you. He is bigger than all your cares combined. He Loves YOU. Don't be afraid of leaving it all at His feet.  Here you will find rest for your souls.

I have time and time again surrendered my heavy load to my Lord. Praise God that He is a living God and when I asked for all His promises, He is there. He gives me rest. My heavy burden that I have been carrying for several years is gone. I have some things to mend but my soul is at rest. In fact, it is celebrating all that He has done for me. Good and bad.

Friends God offers so many promises to you. I pray that His words will sink deep down in your souls and free you of those heavy burdens. I pray that these verses will be a start to a long journey of finding rest in your soul through Christ.

May your day be filled with rest.

You Are Beautiful

As I was traveling home from my son's school today, I saw a lady with one of those "... on board" signs. Her on board sign did not say "baby" or "Bears Fan"; it was a derogatory word referring to herself. You can fill in the blank.

I wonder what occurs in a women or man's life to bring them to the point to think of themselves in that way or to allow someone else to think about them or refer to them in that way.

I realize that some people find derogatory words to be a joke or find those words funny. Personally, I would think that deep down, those insults really hurt. I also realize that some people have built up a thick wall around themselves to protect their hearts from further hurt.

I am here today to give you this message. You are more than your circumstances. You are more than what other people make of you. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

Right before leaving my son at school we were listening to the radio. The song on the station was "Beautiful" by Mercy Me.
Part of the chorus of the song says:
You're beautiful
 You're beautiful
You were made for so much more than all of this
 You're beautiful
You are treasured, You are sacred, You are His
You're beautiful

I was just singing this song to my kids. I pray they will believe all of God's truths about them and not the world's version of them.

Isaiah 43:1-4 (NLT Tyndale LASB) says
But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, "Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.  When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.  For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Isreal, Your Savior. I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom; I gave Cush and Seba in you place.  Others were given in exchange for you. I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you.

Dear readers, The One who created you has a clear message. He calls you by name. You are His. You are not who the world says you are. You are not what your circumstances say you are. He calls you precious and honored and he gave so much because He Loves YOU. In fact he sent His only son, Jesus, to die on the cross for YOU. To rescue YOU. He did that all for YOU. Why? He tells you here in Isaiah because YOU are precious to Him and He Loves YOU.

Your job is to respond to this call.  Accept the gift that he offers you in Jesus. The choice is yours; choose what the world calls you or choose your identity in the fact that your Creator calls you by name.

Beautiful one, know that God knows your beautiful, because He created a Beautiful You.

Have a beautiful day!

New to the Business

Thank you for joining me on this journey.  I am really looking forward to this new adventure. I would like to add that this was my husband's idea. I love you honey. He is my biggest supporter, even when he is a bit hesitant, he is still supportive. He will also be one my first followers, hopefully not the only one. This is a very weird concept to me because I am not the person to think you should follow anyone but Jesus. If this helps lead you to Jesus, then by all means, follow.

I also want to add, since I have decided to try some new things in life, I have had much more peace in my soul.  I have been going through some things the past couple of years. They have just been tearing at me. To anyone who has had to listen to my grumps, I am truly sorry.

I have felt like I have this lion inside me that has been trying to roar and His mouth has been held shut, even though mine has not been. It has been quite frustrating. It has been quite the internal struggle.
I have made some decisions to seek new ways to minister and I am feeling such relief.

Praise the Lord, He is good. I serve an awesome and amazing GOD, the one and only, and He knows the plans that he has for us. His plans are always perfect and in His time.  He is always teaching patience and trust and if we are obedient we will reap the blessings and benefit of all His perfection. I love you Lord.

I am also just learning how to do this blog page so please be patient with me. My husband has been my personal editor and since he is not here, please forgive my errors in writing.

Seeking Service in God

It seems as if every time I am seeking to serve God, my life starts to get hectic. My kids seem to need some extra attention, my husband is supportive but hesitant, and the other relationships in my life seem to gain extra tension.

I question my service and wonder, "if I am doing God's work, why does it all seem to be falling apart?"  It takes some stepping back from the situation to always realize that God doesn't guarantee an easy road without complications.

He does, however, guarantee a life of hope and freedom in Him. He promises that He will be by our side and that faith in Him is just that. It's all about Him.  Please pray with me as I seek His service and that I will continue to be faithful just as He is in all He says and does. Pray with me that my windows of opportunity will open up to seek His service in all that I Do for Him.

Seek Him First! Today's Bible Reading

James 1:17
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of Lights with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

It is of utmost importance that you know that Christ died for you. He died for all sinners so that our relationship with Him could be restored.

Because of His sacrifice on the cross we can have peace. Are you seeking more peace today? Peace of the soul can only be given through the redemptive power of Jesus Christ.

I hope that you, too, know the saving grace of an amazing God.
